Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to some amazing dads out there.
But today I'm thankful for my husband who is an amazing dad to our sweet kids
and for my daddy who has influenced me so much.

I've said it a million times, so I'm just going to show you some of my favorite pictures of them both.

My dad!

These pictures are old, but I love what they say.
They say my dad loves his grandchildren and loves to play with them.
He's always making up funny things to call them, telling them jokes and getting them to say funny new sounds. Even when he's exhausted he'll still get down on the floor to play. Or be up for one more game of hide and seek. I love my daddy, so it's extra special when he views my kids with the same love that he had for me as a child.

My husband

When I went to pick out pictures for this post I couldn't decide which ones to choose. There are tons of pictures of Jon playing with the kids, letting them "help" him with work around the house, or reading stories to them.
He clearly adores them and the feeling is mutual.

He tucks them in at night, regardless of how small the bed is. =)
 He plays with them.
It warms my heart that the man of my dreams loves our kids so much.
Every time I see something like this I fall even more in love with this wonderful guy!
Happy Father's day to two very special men!

Father's Day Update

After taking the kids shopping for presents we returned home and tried not to bother Jon so he could have some alone time working on the Model A.
We ate our typical Taco Bell lunch and for supper headed to Bellacino's and 32 Degrees.

On the way home we noticed that the sky was getting dark again. It had rained off and on all day. Jon thought he saw green clouds. He tried to hurry, but the storm was faster. It started hailing about 2 minutes after he mentioned the green clouds. We whipped into a church parking lot and tried to take shelter under their vestibule. But the hail was coming sideways and we could still hearing it hitting the car. The kids were a bit freaked out, but when they noticed that mom and dad were enjoying it and taking pictures they calmed down.
We came home once the hail had stopped and were surprised to find tons of ice still on the ground.
There were some pretty large pieces.
The electricity was out and leaves were everywhere. But amazingly our car only had one hail spot. The electric came on right after we went to bed. I'd made sure that the lights were all turned off so we wouldn't be rudely awakened, but Dominic must have turned it back on because he came running into our bedroom the library to let us know his light was on.
In spite of the storm and unusual things I'm hoping that Jon had a wonderful Father's Day.

Happy Father's Day!

Dominic
"Tell me what you like about your dad."
"That he does lots of things for me. And he loves me. And he also wants me to do what he tells me to do. That's how I love him. And he's nice to me. That's it."

Caitlin
"What do you like about Daddy?"
"We go shopping." (we went shopping this morning to pick out gifts for him)
"Yes, shopping for him was fun, but what do you like about him?"
"He eyes. I wuv him. Happy Fader days."

Jon got an iPod for Father's Day, but I took the kids this morning to pick out something for him.
We went into the car section of the store because Jon said he could use some car cleaning things.
My kids both picked out bottles of car cleaner based on the color.
Dominic picked a red bottle because it is Jon's favorite color.
Caitlin picked a bottle with purple writing because it was pretty.
Thankfully Jon said he could use them both. =)

My kids are blessed with an amazing Dad. He plays with them, guides and instructs them and unlike some dads he plays an active part in their lives. He gives them their baths every night, takes them to events and spends quality time with each of them.
The kids adore him and I'm so thankful to have such an amazing husband who loves his kids.

Father's Day

Poor Jon's Father's Day started out a bit rough. His phone changes settings to ring at the highest volume when charging no matter what we have it set at. So this morning at 6:15am his phone rang to let us know that he had received a Happy Father's Day text from a "friend". Not sure why it had to be sent so early in the morning. Dominic had woken up during the night to go to the bathroom and so the kid's bedroom door was open. The extremely loud phone ringing woke up both kids and so I had to get up to feed Caitlin. They had slept in until 7:30am yesterday and we were hoping for the same thing today, but no such luck. I was able to keep the kids quiet so Jon could sleep some more, but he muttered some rather uncomplimentary things about some people before he rolled over to go back to sleep. =)
Dominic had made something for Jon with his and Caitlin's foot prints on it and had so much fun giving it to Jon today. Right after he gave it to him he kept asking Jon where his "Father's day present" was. We finally figured out that Dominic thinks cake goes with ALL special occasions and was hoping that Jon would share. Jon isn't real big on cake so after Dominic wakes up from his nap we'll be making a layered dessert (Jon's favorite).

Jon is a wonderful parent. As with most of us I think he was a bit afraid of what type of parent he would be. But I couldn't have asked for a better dad for my kids. He plays with them, helps give baths and even changes diapers. =) He's always pushing Dominic on the swing or giving rides on the tractor or in the Model A. Dominic and Caitlin obviously love their dad and I can see why. He's amazing and I thank God for him every day!
