Fun at camp meeting

We've been having fun at camp meeting this year. It's the same things we enjoy every year, but somehow they never get old.

Eating breakfast before their meeting.
We've walked to some of our meetings.
Taken a trolley ride

And sang in the annual children's concert.
Every single year, Dominic rebels against this concert. We haven't been able to figure out why. He certainly isn't shy and has never had issues with stage fright.

But this year he surprised us. He seemed to really be enjoying himself.
Although if you look closely you'll see a mischievous gleam in his eye.
I won't tell you what his lip reading mother noticed him singing. He was changing the words to the song. At least the boys around him were laughing. And unless you can read lips and were looking at my son, it shall remain a secret. =)
Caitlin had fun too.

Camp Meeting has officially started!

We arrived yesterday at our new "home" at camp meeting.
We are in a new house this year and it's lovely. I like this one better than the one we've had the past couple of years. It's more my style and seems to be more open and spacious.

The usual popsicles and dirty knees have started as well.

We are so excited to begin our week of fun!

Memorable moments

Do you ever have those moments in your family that you know you'll remember forever?

Some of them are incredibly simple or are the result of a mishap that was made into a moment.

This last weekend we went camping. I always check out the camper to make sure we have everything well stocked. I noticed we were out of paper plates, but didn't have time to go to the store. But no worries. We still had our plastic plates that we keep in the camper. We arrive at the campsite and begin preparing our supper, only to realize that there aren't any plates at all.

The first meal was ok. Sandwiches can be eaten on paper towels. But when breakfast rolled around we had to improvise for the pancakes. The kids thought eating on tupperwear lids was fun and it worked well. One of them made the comment that we should do this all of the time.
I found an app on my ipad that I hadn't used before. The kids have spent hours making faces with this thing. There are several of us adults who have about died laughing too. Something as simple as distorted pictures will be a funny memory every time we look at these.
Doesn't my dad look like the mega mind dude?

Mother's Day

I know, I know - I'm late!
I've been busy and missed blogging about mother's day completely. But my sweet kids are so adorable that I wanted to post these, even though it's way past the date.

Dominic made me this thumb print poem
then he glued this "award" to the back. Isn't he the cutest little boy ever?!
The kids came and got into bed with me that morning and we chatted until Jon got home from his bike ride. It was a wonderful way to meet the day.

The end and the beginning

This school year ending has been incredibly bitter sweet for me. Caitlin is ending her gymnastics program after 3 years because she will start school in August. So I took several pictures of her last day there.

A special thank you to Ms. Kelly for being such an amazing teacher.
Caitlin really, really loved going to gymnastics each week.

Dominic won the science award for his classroom this year. Incredibly proud of our little man. He's also doing really well in math and reading. While still wild and crazy, he seems able to channel most of that into doing well in school. So we are thankful. =)

Yeah for Spring and Summer!

The weather has finally decided to be nice. So the kids started enjoying some of the nice aspects of warmer weather.

Playing in the rain!

Washing the car for lego money.

Riding bikes
Jon found a turtle in the middle of the road and rescued him.
Playground time.
