Yogurt Lounge

I failed to take pictures of our date when Dominic and I went to the 32 degrees Yogurt Lounge a few weeks ago. Since Jon hadn't been I suggested that we go last night.
The flavors of frozen yogurt changes, but the toppings seemed to still be the same.
And there are a ton to choose from.
The place has a very contemporary vibe.
It has lounge couches, a fountain and some neat chairs and tables.
The kids enjoying their yogurt.

Beauty Shop

I'm know I've mentioned it before.
Dominic loves my hair down and HATES it when I have a pony tail.
He's even gotten his Daddy involved.
One night while Jon was tucking Dominic into bed Dominic asked him
"Daddy, can you tell mom to wear her hair down tomorrow so she'll be pretty?"
He wouldn't let Jon go until he promised to tell me.

I was in my bedroom hiding from the kids (hide & seek) and when they found me Dominic took my hair out of the scrunchie.
He send Caitlin into the bathroom for the hair brushes and some of her clips.
Then they both did my hair.

After each "hair job" Dominic would take a picture.

A different language

"Mom, look! I speak firefly. Blink, Blink"
As he blinks his eyes.

Muffin Tops

I took the kids to the children's museum yesterday and Dominic was at the art table.
He was drawing clothing. After he'd cut out the shirt he picked it up to show me.
"Look Mom. It even has a muffin top."

I started laughing. I couldn't help it. Does the kid even know what a muffin top is?

One of the museum staff came over to see why I was laughing so hard.
I told her what Dominic had said.

After I'd walked a little ways away (following Caitlin) I heard them talking.
Apparently she'd asked him how to get rid of muffin tops.
"With green tea."

He rarely watches tv anymore, but he has memorized several commercials. The one for a green tea that will help you lose your muffin top must be one of those.

He now knows what muffin tops are. =)

Silly Boy

No explanation necessary!

I love this kid!!!

Yesterday

Yesterday I was a bit camera happy.
So here are some random shots I took.
These were actually taken on Friday night.
The kids stripped Jon's shoes and socks off of his feet.
Caitlin put the socks on
and Dominic put the shoes on.

She's crying in this picture because she hurt her ankle right before nap time on Friday and it hurts to walk.
But she didn't want to stop walking so would just cry every time she took a step.
She's just now (Sunday) starting to walk without a limp.

I took several pictures in Sabbath school.
She didn't have shoes on because her foot was still too swollen for the shoes to fit well.

And a couple more in church. (I WAS paying attention!)

We tried to have a picnic and feed the ducks after church, but the weather was a lot colder at the lake than we'd thought it would be so we didn't stay long. But the kids have fun feeding the ducks and chasing them.

Saturday night was Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Tech. So if you were wearing pink you could get a ticket to the ball game for $1.
My men wore their pink well.

Sunglasses

When Jon and I were on our date the other evening we went into The Children's Place while killing time before our reservations.
They were having a sale on sunglasses. So I planned to take the kids back the next day to get a couple of pairs. They'd outgrown the ones from last year.

Then that evening Caitlin woke up and had to go potty. So while she was sitting there we were talking and somehow the conversation turned to glasses.
I told Caitlin that "tomorrow we'll buy you some sunglasses".
She giggled the rest of the time. I put her back in her bed giggling. She was so excited.

So the next day I took Caitlin to get a couple of pairs while Dominic was in gymnastics. I figured it would be easier to do them one at a time.
She was in love and wouldn't take them off.

After lunch we headed back to get Dominic some.
As we were leaving the restaurant I noticed Caitlin had overflowed her pull up.
We ended up going into the store with Caitlin wearing a pullup, jacket and sunglasses.
She'd peed on everything else.

I have some really cool kids!
This picture is taken when we got home.
The coat is the only clothing she has on.

Date Night

Jon and I had a wonderful date on Tuesday.
We had a girl from church come over and babysit for us so we could celebrate Valentine's Day.
We usually go out the day before or after to avoid the crowds.

The date was wonderful!
It is nice to spend time with my husband when there isn't competition for his attention.
The food was great and we are going to try to do this every month.

When we returned we found the kids already in bed.
I had talked with her about supper so I knew she had fed the kids. But there were no dishes anywhere.
She fixed a meal for them.
Then she cleaned up, including washing and putting away the dishes.
Wow! I have the best babysitters in the world. =)
It made the evening even better.

1st Haircut

Caitlin had her first haircut today.

Before pictures.

At the salon.

Dominic being super quiet. He said he was drawing Caitlin's shoes. ?
Getting it cut.
 New haircut.
 Getting it curled.
The final look. When she saw herself in the mirror she said -
"Pwetty Caitwin. Pwetty haiwcut.
I pwincess"
Caitlin was an angel. She never moved and answered quietly when Dorinda would ask her a question. Dorinda said she couldn't have behaved any better. All of the older ladies there in the salon for their weekly do were in love with the kids. They kept talking about how well behaved and quiet they were.
=) We all know that isn't true. But I'm glad they were well behaved for a bit.

Poor, poor Dominic

"Hi, madame. What is your name?"
"My name is Mommy. What is your name?"
"Dominic. I'm just a poor, poor kid with no family.
I have no toys or clothes. Nobody to read me stories or play with me."
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"
"Yea. I'm just very poor with nobody to love me."

Since I just spent the last hour reading to them I'm not feeling guilty. =)
But I do have to wonder why he equates poor people with being lonely.

Book Fair and Birthday party

We had a very busy day yesterday.
First we had the book fair. It's going on all week, but I had volunteered to help sell books yesterday.
So we all went down and the kids read while I handled the sales part with a friend.

As you can see, my family loves to read as much as I do.
I'm afraid I came home with a huge pile of books.
We NEEDED more books. =)

We came home from the book fair and Dominic and I went straight to a birthday party for a friend he met at gymnastics. Her name is Cailyn.
Dominic had so much fun, but I think the cake and ice cream where his favorites.

Spoiled rotten

My children are very spoiled.
Caitlin loves the little princesses that she got for going potty.
She wants to sleep with them and carries them everywhere.
We were coloring on the couch and one must have fallen on the floor.
The next thing we knew Sarah had chewed a leg off.
Caitlin picked up the pieces and tried to make her princess "all better."
But there wasn't anything we could do and she sadly threw her away.
She kept saying "Bad Sawah!" over and over again.

It broke my heart and I told Jon about it at lunch.
He went to the store that night and bought her a replacement.
We had a very happy little girl that evening.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!
God has blessed me with the most wonderful family in the world.
I love them so much and am cherishing the precious moments I have with them while they are still small.

Check out my other blog for a Valentine blog about my wonderful husband. =)

Politics

Dominic fell really hard on his head.
He was crying, but I knew he was fine.
So I tried to lighten the moment.
"How many fingers am I holding up?"
"Two."
He must have seen the look on my face, because he changed his answer.
"I think it's four. Because my head hurts pretty bad."
"Okay. Then who is the president?"
He couldn't remember.
When I reminded him, he laughed.
"Our president is A bomb a.
He bombs stuff."
Hahahaha.
Now I had to laugh. My kid certainly isn't Democratic.

Btw, I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a concussion. Even if he didn't answer my questions. =)

I love listening to Caitlin talk. Not only is her voice sweet, but the way she says things cracks me up.

I. Love. You!
Domic. Play. Kitty.

Everything she says is a separate sentence. Each word is said very carefully with a pause in between.
SOOO cute!

Date Night

Jon and I take Dominic on date nights.
Jon usually takes Dominic to a basketball game or something physical.
This last time was my turn and I took Dominic to a new skateboard shop that just opened and then we went to a new frozen yogurt shop.
I failed to take pictures so will have to try again next time.
The yogurt place is so cool. You pick the yogurt and then can add any topping that you want. It's as big as a small buffet restaurant. I couldn't believe all of the toppings. Then you pay by the oz.
Pretty cool.

A couple of days after our date Dominic asked me why we never took Caitlin on a date.
We do. It's just at the same time as the other parent is taking Dominic so he doesn't notice.
That night Jon stayed home with Caitlin and played Sack Boy on the PS3.
She was in heaven and talked about it all evening.

But this got me to thinking. We usually just spend some quality time one-on-one with her. But only once have we actually taken her out like we do her brother.
So when I dropped off Dominic at gymnastics on Wednesday I hurried with my errands so we could get to the Children's Museum in time for the princess party.

There was a craft to make a princess crown.
Then we headed to the throne to try out the crown and scepter.

Then on to the princess tea party. It was very difficult to get all of the little girls to sit at one time.
She may be a princess, but she has an older brother.
So she appreciates the cars.
Caitlin and I had a great time.
And since it happens every Wednesday we will most definitely go again.
