Cousins

Last week my mom came over to get some strawberries and brought Leila (my niece) with her. I convinced her to spend the night by offering to help her put the strawberries up.

The cousins had so much fun. Because I was busy with the strawberries, I didn't get very many pictures. They played outside most of the day. But when it began to get dark they decided to have a camping trip. It came complete with a bonfire

and tents.

 

They wanted to spend the night here. I knew the floor would be a bit hard, but they'd worked so hard to get everything perfect that I didn't have the heart to tell them no. So we let them all pile in. A few minutes later Leila came to get me. Apparently they'd shifted onto the bottom bunk because the floor was too hard and Caitlin had accidentally gotten her leg stuck somehow.

When I went in to rescue her, I climbed over a sound asleep Dominic. He'd played so hard all day that he was exhausted. Within a matter of minutes Caitlin had gone to her own bed and Leila was out cold on the top bunk. Those poor babies didn't even last 30 minutes before they were all snoring.

I might be a bit biased, but these are some awesomely cute kids!

New Years Day

Today we headed up to Hendersonville to run the Frostbite New Years Day race. Dominic wanted to run the Fun run so I signed him up. A couple of days ago my niece, Leila (Zeb's daughter) decided she wanted to come with Grandpa and run with Dominic.

 I forgot to time them, but Dominic came in somewhere just after 8 minutes

 and Leila just shy of 9 minutes. I was really impressed for kids who never practice. In fact, this was Leila's first race.

 They were pretty proud of themselves. They still had so much energy that they (mostly Leila) begged to go with me in the 10k.

Weekend Away

A couple of weekends ago we headed to GA to see some family.

It was a whirlwind trip, but we had a lot of fun and saw family from both sides.

This first picture is from our quick stop to see my grandparents. The weather was beautiful and when we pulled up, everyone was outside. My uncle and grandpa were both resting their feet on his walker.

After seeing my grandparents we headed down to Georgia to see Jon's Uncle Tom and family. The cousins hadn't seen each other in a very long time. So they enjoyed getting reacquainted.

We had a fun weekend. Cohutta Springs is beautiful.

Happy Birthday Lexi!

This weekend was my niece Lexi's birthday.

Kami and Lexi live about 2 hours from us so she arranged to have the party at Chuckee Cheese in Nashville.

Leila (my other niece) was there as well. Dominic was super excited to give Lexi her presents. It seemed very important to him to be the one to give them to her.

We arrived and Dominic immediately had to have tokens to begin playing the games.

Caitlin, on the other hand, was content to watch from a distance and wander around looking. Lexi and Leila thought she was the cutest thing they'd ever seen and couldn't keep away. They would walk around holding her hand and hugging on her. She was tolerant at best. =)

 

 

We had so much fun and it makes me that much more thankful that we get to be a part of the family functions again.
