Kids stuff

Caitlin's potty went down hill after the first princess. She did okay one day and got one more before we decided to take a break. She was the one to ask us if she could go in the big girl potty. After about 2 months she's now asked to be a baby again and wear diapers. So for now, we are following her lead. When the spring comes we'll try again. In the mean time she's loving her two little princesses.

Dominic has a very different fashion sense from Jon and I.
He's been doing this for days now.
Hat on sideways, pants rolled up regardless of weather.
Caitlin asked to sleep in her big girl bed. She's not climbing out of her crib and there isn't a baby coming to push her out, so we've just left her. But she asked so we said okay as long as she didn't keep getting up.
After about the fifth time of putting her back in the bed she was back in the crib.
Going out to skate board with big brother.
The air in our house is super dry. I've put a humidifier in Dominic's room. But he still gets the occasional nose bleed. Sometimes it's so bad that it looks as if someone died. Other times it's not so bad. Thankfully this was one of the mild times or I would have been cleaning some carpet.

Super Bowl

I'm not a football fan. But I do enjoy watching the Super Bowl.
I think it's the friends, food and commercials mostly.

A friend invited us (and tons of other people) over to her house last night to watch the game.
She lives up on the mountain and the view from her back deck was amazing.
Dominic and Caitlin enjoyed playing with all of the other kids under the stairs.
It was the cutest little cubby and they all loved it.

The kids enjoyed themselves as much as Jon and I did.

Thank you for a wonderful time Mrs. Kathy.

Potties and Princesses

Caitlin was doing so well for a while with the potty. Jon and I made the mistake of getting excited that we were done with that part of raising children.
Then Caitlin decided that she wanted to go back to the ease of being a baby again.
She won't ask to go. She yells no if asked about it.
She will go in her pants regardless of the consequences.
So I decided to try something different.

She gets a piece of candy if she goes in the potty and her panties are dry.

But I purchased several little dolls (princesses).
I hung the first one up on the linen closet door in the bathroom.
She understood that she would get this princess if her panties stayed dry all day.
She still gets the candy, but at the end of the day if there were no accidents she could have the princess.
She saw this every time she went potty and every time she walked by the bathroom.

At the end of the evening when we put her in her night time pull up we gave her the princess and praised her for keeping dry all day.
She is in love with her princess.
So lets see if day 2 can have the same results.

"Helping" Daddy

Caitlin got into Jon's chalk when we weren't looking.

Priorities

Dominic just brought me a picture of a dvd he wanted.
"Mom, can I have this movie? How much does it cost?"
"It probably costs about $25. You'll have to save up your money and buy it."
(I'm trying to teach a lesson here.)
"I don't have that much in my bank, do you have that much money?"
"Perhaps."
"Can you buy it for me?"
"No. I think I should use my money for things like groceries so we can eat supper tonight."
"Mom,  I think we should just eat leftovers. There are enough in the refrigerator. I really want this movie."
(The point of saving money was lost when I started laughing, I think.)

Super Powers

Dominic has been into super powers lately.
Mainly what super powers do you have?
He will see us doing something and tell us that is our super power.
There had been quite a bit of talk about super powers yesterday.

Jon was painting in the dining room and Dominic walked in.
"Wow Dad. You painted that really fast."
"It's my super power, Dominic."
Dominic laughing.
"No it's not, Daddy. Mom is your super power."

All Boy - All Girl!

This morning I was doing laundry when I heard a little voice in the hallway.
"Hep pease." (Help please)
I came around the corner to find Caitlin with one of her princess gowns half on and stuck.
She hadn't taken her shirt off before trying to put it on and it wasn't working well for her.
Once I took the first picture she wanted me to take a picture every time she tried on another dress.
Dominic sat down beside me to watch her playing dress up.
So I had her sit beside him and took their picture.
She may be all girl and he may be all boy, but she copies everything her big brother does.
She's trying to be in the same pose as her big brother. It's not working as well.
