On stage

Dominic has had a couple of activities that have put him up front or "on stage". So I thought I'd combine them. By combining them in one post you might also catch a glimpse of the extra crazy child he'd been this past week. I think I have a little boy in serious need of summer break.

 After receiving his certificate to graduate to the next level.

 It cracks me up every time I see it. Crazy boy!

This was a "bad parent" moment for me. But still funny. The slide show was having some issues. So the director called the kids up to share what their favorite honor was for the year while we waited. Dominic wasn't sure which one he liked best so she tried looking at his sash to give him some ideas. Not one new honor had been put on his sash. Sigh! Bad mommy! I'll have to work on that before he starts back in the fall.

 Finally a serious face.

 We were missing about 5-8 kids, but a pretty good picture of our little Adventurer club.

The next day the school went to a nursing home to give a presentation.

These pictures don't show it as well, but he was just as crazy.

It's a good thing that school is out next week. 

I'm not sure how long either he or his teacher can stand him. =)

At the park

A couple of days ago (Sabbath), the Adventurers decided to have a picnic outside at a park. I didn't even know this park existed. It's a cute little park with several great climbing trees.

 

 They were pretending to be parrots in the jungle.

The kids were so itchy that we had to give them baths when we got home.

 I have no idea what this was all about. =)

When the tears start it's time to go home.

Investiture

Today was a pretty long day for the kids.

And for some reason Caitlin woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

She came into our room upset about something. And it was all downhill from there.

She went potty and for some reason never put anything other than her panties back on before wanting to go outside. Not sure what prompted the coat since it was warm outside, but the sight of Dominic playing with his bike helmet still on and Caitlin in panties and a coat was too good of a photo op to pass up.

 

While I didn't condone her bad attitude, I did think it was cute and took a couple of pictures between Sabbath school and church.

After lunch the Pathfinder and Adventurer clubs had their Investiture service.

I was so proud of our little (and big) kids.

The rest he received this afternoon. He's growing up so fast. What an amazing kid!

Caitlin had to get a picture with her awesome big brother.

Jon wore his Pathfinder uniform since he was presenting some of the awards.

It was a move that prompted several requests from people for him to help with Pathfinders.

I don't think he anticipated that, but he was director years ago and enjoyed working with the kids that age so he's considering it.

Dominic got a bit bored during the Pathfinder (older kids) part and grabbed the camera.

Last Little Lamb meeting

Last night was the last Little Lamb meeting.

We have investiture in two weeks where they are presented with their honors and officially "graduate" to the next class. So when school starts Dominic will be an Eager Beaver and Caitlin will start Little Lambs.

My babies are growing up so quickly.

At the last meeting the leader had a little party. 

There was a petting zoo.

 

 

 

Yee Haw!

It was 40something degrees and Dominic chose to wear a t-shirt and shorts. So he spent some of the time outside in Ms. Kathy's pink jacket. Silly boy!

Dominic was in heaven when he found out he would get a piece of cake and also the Diego on top.

Ms. Kathy let everyone pick something off of the top and Dominic chose Diego. He was one happy little boy.

Thank you Ms. Kathy for being such a wonderful Little Lambs teacher.

Duct Taping Party

About a month ago our school had a scholastic book fair. Mrs. Beth-Anne said that if the school met the goal that she would have a party and allow the kids to duct tape her to a wall.

So you know the parents spent a ton on books so we could see this happen. =)

Last Sunday was also Adventurers. So the party was combined with Adventurers and Caitlin and I joined Jon and Dominic.

They had all of the children line up so that they would each get a turn with the duct tape.

As you can see the adults joined in.

 Dominic was so afraid that someone would get ahead of him in line that he was basically hugging his little friend.

Thankfully she didn't seem to mind.

I noticed later that he'd let Caitlin in front of him in line, so all hope isn't lost. =)

Caitlin found a dandelion while waiting. She didn't realize that it was turning her nose yellow.

 Once the duct tape was all on Matthew (Beth-Anne's husband) pulled out the chair and she hung there.

The kids then had to get their picture with her.

Then came the fun part of getting her down. I was so afraid that she'd get some of the tape off and pitch forward. Matthew stood in front of her and held her while Jon cut the tape off.

Still taped up, but down.

Mrs. Beth-Anne is the best teacher. I'm so impressed that she was willing to do this for the kids.

And so very thankful that Dominic will have her for a teacher next year.

After the party we went out to eat with the Whites and Riddles. 

It was a great ending to a very fun day.
