Promotions and relaxation

Yesterday was fun and also a bit hard for me.
The hard part first - Dominic was promoted to Primary. Somehow in my mind he was supposed to stay in Kindergarten. And technically he could stay there until he was turning 7 years old. But since he's going to be in 1st grade this August they promoted him. I was 7 yo before I hit primary and Dominic is still 5 yo. It was a bit of a jolt to my mommy heart. But I got over it and proudly took pictures.

Accepting his promotional certificate. The kid didn't stay still long enough for the picture.
Singing with his class
Caitlin singing with her little class. Summer means quite a few kids were missing. And then one dropped out with a melt down. =)

After church we headed out to the lake with some friends. One of them had just gotten a boat and was wanting some company on it's maiden voyage.

We would stop in a still spot and swim for a bit before moving on.
Caitlin wanted to drive the boat. Mr. Charlie was sweet enough to share his seat.
I don't have a picture because my camera battery died, but she fell asleep while driving. =)

Freedom

Yesterday was Caitlin's first day in the Kindergarten class at church. Last week she had her promotion.
Jon and I were really looking forward to being in an adult class together after 5 1/2 years of taking turns or both being in the children's classes.
Since Dominic is still in there for a little bit I was fairly certain that she would do okay.
But it's always nice to have it confirmed.
I received this message from the teacher this morning. -

Hi Tima,
I wanted to send you a message in case I don't get to talk to you soon & I don't want to forget to tell you...

I thought Caitlin did great yesterday. Dominic very much embraced the role of big brother. It was so sweet because when I asked who wanted to pray, Dominic said that Caitlin did. She didn't seem convinced but he was and he told her he would help her. So when her turn came, he said a prayer and she repeated the phrases after him. It was very sweet.
=)

I'm so proud of my kids. And Jon and I are enjoying the freedom of having "older" kids.

Sabbath school

I took quite a few pictures in Sabbath school this last week. It was partially because they were going to celebrate Caitlin's birthday and so I had the camera. But it was also because this is her last month in the Beginner's class. In January a new quarter starts and she moves up to Kindergarten. It's a bit hard for me to imagine that I won't have to go into class with her every other week. Jon and I take turns so that one of us can attend the adult class every other week. It's been nice taking turns, but now we'll actually be able to sit in class together. We are super excited about it, don't get me wrong. But a small part of me is so sad to see my little baby growing up so quickly. It helps that I know she'll love it in K with Dominic.

Caitlin was very fascinated with this plastic angel.

 At the manger.
Caitlin has the best teachers. Not sure if I'd be willing to lay on the floor. =)
 In "heaven".
Caitlin was in love with the gorillas.
So thankful for the teachers who spend so much time in preparation for teaching my child.
