That pesky future wife

I'm beginning to wonder if I should pray silently for my kids future spouses.
Because more often than not, I get questions or comments about my prayer.

Again last night I prayed for Dominic's future wife. I can't remember what I said since I change it up every night based on what I pray for Dominic.
But when I finished Dominic was silent for a moment and then -
"What if I'm a butcher?"
Coming from a vegetarian I was a little surprised and started laughing.
"Dominic, do you know what a butcher is? They are basically people who cut up meat."
"Oh, I thought it was a guy who never married."
"No, that's a bachelor."
"Oh, close enough. What if I'm one of those."

I think I said something along the lines of it didn't hurt to pray and God would understand. I was still too tickled about the butcher to be totally sure of my answer.

Prayers

Every night after worship the kids get into bed. Then Jon and/or I go into their rooms to tuck them in and pray with them again. This second prayer is usually very short and asks for sweet dreams and God to send His angel to be with them while they sleep.

Caitlin was having difficulty settling down tonight and apparently didn't pay attention to my prayer. So she used this as a ploy to get me to come back.
She wanted me to pray again.
So I told her that I'd already prayed. Now it was her turn.
She didn't want to at first, but then agreed.
"Dear Jesus, I'm praying because Mommy told me to. Amen!"

We Made It!

Dominic's prayer at lunch.

"Dear God, please nurse our food to our bodies and bless it. And thank you for giving us the strength to make it and not die before lunch. Amen!"

I guess somebody didn't eat enough for breakfast and thought they were dying. =)

Just visiting

Caitlin had the prayer for lunch today. "Dear Jesus, thank you for the food and thank you for mommy visiting us. Amen!"
What!?

Prayer

This picture doesn't really have anything to do with this blog post, but I thought it was cute.
Dominic couldn't decide what cereal he wanted one morning and so he put them all out so he could see them all at once.

Dominic would like me to clarify that the sippy cup in the picture is Caitlin's, NOT his! =)

Every morning we say prayer when we get in the car before we leave for school. Sometimes I pray, but mostly I ask Dominic to pray. It's amusing and enlightening. Here are a few things I've heard since he started school two months ago.

"Please bless the teachers as they teach and please help the kids to finally listen."

"Thank you for school, but could you please help December to get here more quicker?"

"Please help us not to be late so Mom doesn't have to drive so fast and get a ticket."
(I haven't received a ticket or even been stopped, so not sure where that came from.)

"Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for. . . (after about 5 minutes and an "Amen" hint from mom) and I guess Amen so mom can drive." After which he told me that I could have driven with one eye opened. "Jesus would have said it was okay, Mom."

Prayer

This past week I've heard Dominic praying several times. It's so cute because when he normally has prayer he says "Dear Jesus" and closes his eyes. At worship he folds his hands and at meal time he wants to hold our hands. This prayer is totally different. It's like he's just talking to God. Jon and I aren't ever with him when he does this.
As he's playing w/ his toys -
"Dear God, Thanks for my trains."
"Dear God, Thanks for my cars. They are fun."
Looking out the window -
"Dear God, Thank you for the rain and birds." (It wasn't raining & I didn't see any birds.)

So this morning Dominic was a little sniffly (is that a word?) and I decided to spend the day at home. I heard this little prayer -
"Dear God, Thanks for letting Mommy take me to Andy's house." I looked over to see him glancing at me out of the corner of his eye. If that wasn't a hint I don't know what is.
