Happy Easter

We have a beautiful service at church and the teachers go all out in the Sabbath schools for Easter. But last year we had a bonfire instead of the usual egg hunt. So this year I just assumed the kids would rather do an activity instead of hunt eggs. Turns out I was wrong. So this morning I hid eggs. It's getting harder and harder to find things to go in those eggs that aren't filled with sugar or are so cheap that they get thrown away later today. Thank goodness for Legos and Matchbox cars.

Dominic bought a disposable camera at school store on Friday. He's had so much fun taking pictures. He is able to use one of my point & shoots any time he wants. But I guess the appeal of having his very own camera won out.
Getting ready to start. These kids see no need to dress up.
They are dirty and mismatched. They were dressed up adorably yesterday for church.
But did I remember to get a picture? No, of course not.
Jon opted to go for a bike ride and miss all of the egg hunting fun. =)

She fixed her hair this morning. She said it was "specially for Easter".
 Documenting the loot.
Happy Easter, everyone!

Easter

Our Easter was rather unplanned this year. Jon and I had left the kids at my parents so we could have a weekend to ourselves (more about that on my other blog). We picked the kids up on Sunday morning and returned home. So the whole hunting for eggs was a serious after thought. Thankfully I'd purchased some things and stored them in my closet several months before.

Due to the rain we had the egg hunt in the library.
I didn't fill as many eggs as I normally did because I didn't have enough things and there wasn't a ton of room in the library. So I gave the kids some extras in the bottom of their bags.
This is the thing they were most excited about. Gum!!!
I don't think it lasted the week. But they enjoyed it, so that's what counts.

Just a random picture. Some high school friends came to Nashville for some meetings and were able to come spend the night at our house. The kids took advantage and had Uncle Rodney reading them stories.

Easter morning

My family never really celebrated Easter.
We would attend a church service with an Easter sermon and, of course, my parents explained what it was all about. But we didn't do the eggs, the bunny, special food, etc.
So when my kids came along I had to pick and chose what traditions I wanted for them.
This morning was beautiful in so many ways.
We slept in and then went to the church for a Easter service and pancake breakfast.
The service was short, but very meaningful and incorporated the children which I loved.

I helped with breakfast and then the kids played while we talked and cleaned up.

Then we came back to the house to hunt for Easter eggs and have a fun family day.

 The stash.
Of course we went to Taco Bell. It may be Easter, but it's also Sunday.
And we can't let a Sunday go by without eating Taco Bell. =)

Happy Easter everyone! Hopefully your day was as blessed as ours!

Florida Holiday/Easter Egg Hunt

We have had so much fun on our annual Florida vacation. I think Dominic has had the most fun. We will be leaving tomorrow. Dominic wasn't very happy when we told him.
Dominic was able to go on the boat twice this weekend. I wasn't able to go with him because Caitlin was needing to eat or sleeping both times. But he seemed to really enjoy it.
Last night I gave the kids a bath together. Our tub isn't large enough so they both enjoyed it. Caitlin didn't even mind the splashing.
This morning we dyed eggs. Everyone got in on the action.
While the real eggs were drying we went on an egg hunt outside. Dominic was the only kid with about six adults watching him. =) He would open each egg and put the egg in the basket and the contents in his bag.
