You can call me TD

"Mom, don't call me Dominic anymore. I want you to call me TD."
"Okay. I get what the D stands for, but what does the T stand for?"
"For terrific!"

Yep! That's my kid. =)

Praise the Lord!

Overheard -
"Oh no. Now he can't breath or eat or praise the Lord!"
"Dominic, what are you talking about?"
"My baby jaguar died."
Okay! Didn't know that jaguars could praise the Lord.
Learn something new every day.

Grandma and the zoo

We met my mom at the zoo in Nashville today.

I took quite a few pictures of the animals, but frankly my kids are cuter, so that's what you'll be seeing here.
I can give you directions to the zoo if you want more animals. =)

At the parrot exhibit. Notice what my mom is looking at?
I don't think she came to the zoo for the animals either.

We were trying to see the monkeys in the trees and the sun was shining in our eyes.
Caitlin had forgotten her sunglasses in the car.
Dominic wanted me to take his picture by the rope bridge.
Trying to go see the meerkats.
Over 25 buses of children came to the zoo from the local schools.
It was crazy. My mom got rather protective of her grandchildren a couple of times.
I guess a mom never loses her "mother bear". She just transfers it. =)

Notice the look on Caitlin's face. She'd been pushed around a couple of times and was fearful of being pushed while in the tunnel.

Being short can be tough.
Dominic's favorite part of the whole zoo.
The alligators.

A couple more shots of my cute kids.

When it was time for lunch we headed out of the zoo since there weren't very many places to eat inside. Once we were out I realized what time it was. I'd promised the kids that we would return after lunch, but knew it would take forever to get back in and the very thought made me tired.
So like all good mothers, I bribed my children.
"Dominic, you can have two choices. You can go back to the zoo for a few minutes or we can go to McDonalds and get a McFlurry.
Guess what he chose?

Last Little Lamb meeting

Last night was the last Little Lamb meeting.
We have investiture in two weeks where they are presented with their honors and officially "graduate" to the next class. So when school starts Dominic will be an Eager Beaver and Caitlin will start Little Lambs.
My babies are growing up so quickly.

At the last meeting the leader had a little party.
There was a petting zoo.

Yee Haw!
Dominic's class - minus the families that forgot. =)
It was 40something degrees and Dominic chose to wear a t-shirt and shorts. So he spent some of the time outside in Ms. Kathy's pink jacket. Silly boy!
Cake and punch.
Dominic was in heaven when he found out he would get a piece of cake and also the Diego on top.
Ms. Kathy let everyone pick something off of the top and Dominic chose Diego. He was one happy little boy.
Thank you Ms. Kathy for being such a wonderful Little Lambs teacher.
We love you!

What were we thinking?!

Jon saw a drum set for sale at our church yard sale and we ended up getting it.
What were we thinking?!

The kids LOVE it!
It is so cute to watch them bang away and the noise isn't as bad as I'd expected it to be.

A jam session complete with guitar.
Dominic gets very serious when he's playing.
He calls it "my rock".
The kids are using pencils in these pictures because it didn't come with drum sticks
and I couldn't find the ones we had.

Caitlin's bowl

Last night a friend had a pottery painting class.
A couple of years ago, I had painted a bowl for Dominic, but was going to wait until Caitlin was older so I could paint something on it that she liked. But then we moved and I didn't want to drive into Nashville to find a pottery place. Then my friend told me about this party she was having. When I got there I was stumped. Caitlin's favorite color is purple and she likes lady bugs and princess things. But those don't really go together and I couldn't find stencils that I liked. I can't draw so I knew I'd have to rely on the stencils. So I just went with some simple flowers and put lots of purple on the bowl. I'm sure she'll be fine with it. I'll try to remember to post another picture when I get the bowl back.

Short Hike

This post is mostly about our hike. But I have a funny picture from church I have to insert.

Caitlin thought she was a pirate again.
Still haven't figured out why she puts random things on her head and growls.

Okay - On to the hike.
We headed north to Willow Grove at Cordell Hull.
Caitlin fell asleep on the way there so Jon carried her for most of the short hike.

The rain had really overflowed the lake. It had obviously gone over the road in several spots.
We had gone to walk on this trail and it ended very shortly in water.

More water shots.
So we took a tour of the campgrounds and let the kids play at the playground.
I took the coolest shot of Jon on the swings.
Don't I have the cutest kids?!

We had fun on our walk, even if it wasn't where we had planned.

We returned home tired and dirty.
