Aerodynamic weekend

We had a really great weekend.

Jon wanted to go flying this weekend, since we've decided not to fly to New Bern (I'd rather have the money for hardwood floors.). So Friday evening we headed over to the airport. The weather was amazing and I think it was the best flight we've ever had. It was so nice that when we were landing Jon just did a touch and go. I was starving so wasn't very happy with him. But apparently he had to fly for just a little bit more since it was so calm and clear. We eventually made it home to feed me though. =)

Caitlin copying Dominic in "being cool and silly" while we waited on Jon to finish pre-flight stuff.
The kids were holding hands and talking to each other.
Some of the views on our flight.

A new couple came to church and we invited them home for lunch. The have two kids and are around our age. We ended up spending the whole day with them and are so excited to have some new really great friends.
They invited us over to their house for supper since we'd fed them lunch. When we got there they were letting their boxer out to use the bathroom. Dominic went into full panic mode. He started screaming and just about strangled me trying to get away from him. While we were eating Dominic said he didn't want to go through the other room where the dog was being kept to go home. So I told him that he'd have to unless he wanted to stay there for the night. He slowly looked around their house and said
"You have a very nice home, but I'm just not accustomed to it so I think I'll go home tonight."
They thought it was hilarious that he was screaming out of control one minute and using such big words the next.

On Sunday afternoon Jon went to the store and returned with all of the supplies to build my library. I'm so, so excited. I can hardly wait to start opening all of those boxes that have been closed for over 3 years and start "exploring" again.

We also went on a short bike ride to see the fall colors on our street. Dominic has a really great bike, but insisted on riding his tricycle. The silly kid was exhausted trying to get up the hill.

Then we went to a little city park not far from our house. It obviously belongs to a small town with very little funding. The swings were broken and there is trash everywhere. It doesn't look like they've added mulch to the playground since the first time.
So we took the swings from our swing set in New Bern and replaced the broken ones and picked up some of the trash. The kids had so much fun, but because of the dust from the mulch were filthy when we left.

Today at breakfast Dominic was playing with his spoon.
"Stop, stop! You are way too aerodynanic (aerodynamic)"
